Biography

Portsmouth natives making noise of oceanic proportions with just drums and bass guitar, eschewing comparisons to Pompey’s respective Royal Blood. Drawing influence from grunge, punk, stoner and desert rock, Sabres do not pigeonhole easily, and have quickly developed a disruptive sound and character since their founding in late 2021.

Angst is nothing thematically new to rock & roll, however new epochs breed new crises, new fears and perversions, which Sabres tackle in their music: from the corruption and negligence of a Johnson-led government, to tabloid propaganda, to mental health struggles, and reflecting on the anger and trauma that still poisons the male psyche.

Arriving on August 11th 2022 is Sabres’ second single on Mayfield Records, ‘Tell Me Where It Hurts’, an anxiety-laden bounce in which there is a blurred line between dancing and twisting in pain. A music video is being planned.
